A diet is one of the most effective weapons when it comes to body building, that is if you want to achieve maximum potential. A diet is needed to supply the body with the energy needed to perform your exercises and also gives you the nutrients you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, so a diet is very important when it comes to body building.
One thing about a body building diet is you have to include a lot of protein. Protein is critical contributing to the overall health of our tissues, organs, and losing fat and building muscle. For each pound of our body weight we should consume 1 gram of protein. Now if you want to be a great body builder then you need to increase that amount to a gram and a half per day. Meat, fish, and milk are great sources of protein and should be incuded in your diet.
Another one that should also be a big part of the body building diet is Carbohydrates. Our body uses Carbs as a major source of the fuel for our activity. Starches and fiber should also be in the diet, those are called complex carbohydrates and should be included. Potatoes, whole grain rice, and pasta are great in a diet along with whole grain breads.
An important part of a body building diet also will include fats, believe it or not, because fats are important as well. Fats are an energy source for the body and our bodies need fats to function correctly and efficiently. They regulate most of our bodily processes.
Consume the good fats and not the bad ones because the key to a great plan is to consume the good fats. Unsaturated fats are the good ones and they are found in olive oil or flaxseed oil. You can tell what the unsaturated fats are because they are liquid at room temperature. Your arteries can get clogged with saturated fats and can lead to health problems so this is why you should avoid them as much as possible. Saturated fats like animal lard and butter are the ones that are solid at room temperature.
Adequate fiber should also be included in your body building diet. Fiber helps contribute to weight loss because it helps your body flush out impurities on a regular basis. Seeds, nuts, and whole grain are a great source of fiber and you can find them in cereal.
Last but not the least, a lot of vegetables and a moderate amount fruit you will want to include in your diet. You do not want to eat a lot of fruit because it can cause you to retain water and also can contribute to a larger amount of sugar. Essential vitamins and nutrients are in vegetables and your body needs those to operate efficiently so eat plenty of vegetables.
A diet that is balanced and nutritious is a good body building diet. Eat five or six small meals daily instead of three large ones and you should consume the majority of your protein and carbohydrates in the morning. Know what your body needs because to be a great body builder a good diet is important and then just go out there and be the best.
